You will know which advertising earns money and which only spends it

This section is in development. It will sit on top of what already works: promotion costs run through finance, and deals with their sources run through sales. Below is what we intend to build.

The Marketing section of Akeda ERP is in development and no release date is promised. The planned capability is a single report that brings promotion costs and deal results together: acquisition cost, conversion and return on investment by channel and campaign, plus planned, actual and variance figures for the advertising budget. Unlike an external attribution tool, it will read posted finance operations and CRM deals from the same database instead of manual exports; today advertising costs are tracked as finance items and enquiry sources are tracked in sales.

01Who gets what

  • For the owner

Advertising takes a visible share of costs, and its contribution to profit is taken on faith.

The report will show spend and return per channel, built on the same posted transactions as your profit report.

  • For the marketer

Numbers are copied from ad platforms into a spreadsheet and are stale by the time the report is ready.

Spend, enquiries and deals will come together in one place, without a monthly manual round-up.

  • For the head of sales

It is unclear which channel brings deals and which brings only enquiries.

Cost of acquisition and conversion will be measured along the path from enquiry to deal, not by clicks.

02Key points

  1. 01

    Every channel in one report

    • We will gather channel spend and results into one table instead of a manual summary.
    • It will rest on posted finance transactions and sales deals — a single source.
    • Which ad platform connections come first will follow client demand, not a guess.
  2. 02

    Payback, not clicks

    • We will show cost of acquisition, conversion and return on spend per channel and campaign.
    • Comparing channels answers the real question: where the budget should move.
    • Period-over-period dynamics will show where return is growing and where it is fading.
  3. 03

    Budget: plan, actual, variance

    • Planning spend by channel, campaign and period, with a horizon you can read.
    • Plan will be compared with actual spend the same way a project budget already is.
    • Variance will be visible during the campaign, not after it has finished.

03One day with the module

  1. 09:00

    A morning look at channels

The marketer will open the report and see spend and result per channel for the past week.

  2. 11:30

    A campaign runs over budget

The gap between plan and actual will show while the campaign is live and can still be corrected.

  3. 14:00

A talk with the head of sales

The conversation will run on deals and their sources, not on impressions and clicks.

  4. 16:40

    A budget decision

Budget moves to the channel that pays back better, argued with the same figures the profit report uses.

  5. 31st

    Month closed

Promotion costs are already booked to categories in finance — marketing will add the return beside them.

06Questions

Marketing

When will the section arrive?

We name no date: clients set the queue, and a promised date costs more than the feature itself. That is exactly why the section is marked as planned.

What can we do before it ships?

Book advertising costs to categories in finance and see them in profit and cash flow, while enquiry and deal sources live in sales. Linking the two is still manual.

Will there be automatic import from ad platforms?

It is planned. Which connections come first will follow client demand, so we do not publish a list in advance.

Does the system measure advertising payback today?

No. Spend by category and results by deal are visible separately; bringing them together into a return-per-channel figure is precisely what this section is for.

Can we influence what goes into it?

Yes. Client requirements set the development priority. If a process is genuinely unique, a separate custom module covers it instead of reshaping the standard one.
